Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the cracks with powdered gold. This method creates something greater and stronger than the sum of the original parts, without covering any signs of the brokenness. This gorgeous ornament encourages us to observe the broken beauty of the Christmas season as we celebrate the joy of Jesus’ birth and remember the scars he would one day bear.
Ornaments are handmade by Prodigal Pottery, which employs women fleeing homelessness, domestic abuse and sex-trafficking in Birmingham, Alabama.
